San Diego, CA, June 30, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Local San Diego County and Orange County business leaders gathered to uphold ethical business practices.
The Better Business Bureau serving San Diego, Orange and Imperial Counties held its 21st Annual Gerry Wilson Golf Classic on June 26th at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club. The fundraising tournament brings business leaders together from southern California for the cause of advancing ethical business practices.
Golfers participated in a fun day of networking and four-person scrambles throughout the afternoon. BBB also hosted its 12th Annual Wacky Slacks Contest in honor of former BBB CEO, Gerry Wilson, who wore outrageous slacks to every golf tournament. The wackiest dressed players and teams were awarded trophies at the end of the day. The evening kicked off with cocktails on the patio and dinner in the main dining room. In addition, a silent auction was held, successfully raising over $29,000.
The proceeds attained support the BBB Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)3 that serves over 3 million consumers every year through the implementation of educational programs and community initiatives. These include the BBB Military Line, Student Ambassador, Torch Award for Ethics, Charity Review and Consumer Education, all of which are geared to inform and protect consumers. Students, military and seniors are most vulnerable to scammers, fraudsters and thieves, however, as a result of these programs, and their generous sponsors, community members become more financially literate and make smarter purchases. In addition, they are more alert of scams that could lead to identity theft and fraud.
The BBB Foundation thanks all its sponsors for supporting their mission in maintaining a marketplace of trust where consumers and businesses can thrive: Sycuan Casino (Lunch Sponsor), Corporate Helicopters (Helicopter Ball Drop Sponsor), Advertising Edge Inc. (Golf Hat Sponsor), Lloyd Pest Control (Golf Cart Sponsor), Barney & Barney (Beverage Cart Sponsor), Replica Printing Services (Sign & Printing Sponsor), EtchingX.com (Wacky Slacks Prize Sponsor), and Anderson Plumbing Heating & Air, Generation Contracting & Emergency Services Inc., Global Exchange Vacation Club and Pro Back Office LLC. (Eagle Tee Sponsors).
