Florida Business Travel Association Changes Its Name

Fort Lauderdale, FL, February 16, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Florida Business Travel Association (FBTA) – Gold Coast Chapter’s Board of Directors unanimously agreed to change their name yesterday at their latest meeting at the new, fabulous Il Lugano Hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach.

In order to reflect a more common moniker in the Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach areas, the FBTA decided to change the name of their chapter, which is a part of the National Business Travelers Association (NBTA). The change will take the chapter from FBTA – Gold Coast Chapter to FBTA – South Florida Chapter.

“This area is more commonly referred to as South Florida.”, explains Dave DeFossey, VP – Communications. “The description of Gold Coast usually characterizes the immediate coast east of U.S. 1 and describes the Spanish Galleons that sank off the coast and carried large amounts of gold coins. Our chapter represents the entire tri-county region and brings together businesses and organizational travel professionals that call the South Florida metropolitan area home, hence the name change.”

During a luncheon yesterday, sponsored by the new Il Lugano Hotel, many travel professional vendors and clients gathered to network and hear from guest speakers on the complexities and challenges associated with business travel. After the meeting concluded, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to change the name of the organization.
