Global Keynote Speaker Holly Dowling Leads Session at United Nations Foundation Leadership Summit
World-renowned speaker joins United Nations Foundation to support advocacy for girls and women worldwide.
Washington, DC, July 19, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Global Keynote Speaker Holly Dowling recently lead a high-energy, interactive session at the much-anticipated United Nations Foundation Girl Up Leadership Summit 2017, which kicked off on Sunday, July 16, 2017.
Participating in the Summit for the second year in a row, Holly was one of the featured speakers for 300+ girl advocates from countries around the world. Every July, these girl “change-makers” are offered leadership training, development workshops, & a lobby day on Capitol Hill as they take the steps to advocate for the rights & well-being of girls worldwide.
Dowling’s particular session focused around “Shattering the Glass Ceiling” for girls & women in the corporate arena. Driving dialogue throughout the session, Dowling called attention to the dangerous nature of limiting beliefs, and the importance of questioning beliefs that have simply been imposed through society. She stressed the importance of “standing up for what you stand for” and taking the time to “own your voice.”
Another big focus of the session was the importance of mentorship and the profound effect this can have on both the mentee & mentor. A big advocate of mentorship, Dowling shared how it is often “the difference for someone” on the road to success. She shared just how important it is to have someone in your corner to “lift you up, empower you, & lead you in the right direction.”
Closing the session, Dowling shared the importance of not only empowering girls with a powerful mindset, but also making sure that boys & men are on the same page. Calling attention to the importance of having them join the movement for gender equality, Dowling shared, “We’re only doing half the battle by empowering girls.”
The Girl Up Leadership Summit is an annual event currently in its fourth year. The event featured several other notable speakers including girls’ rights advocate & Canadian first lady Sophie Trudeau, actress Monique Coleman, & former astronaut Anousheh Ansari.
