PPEF Awards Jayne Emoff Miller Scholarship
Dayton, OH, July 28, 2017 --(PR.com)-- PPEF (Promotional Products Education Foundation) recently awarded the Jayne Emoff Miller scholarship to a future graduate of Brandeis University.
Jayne Emoff Miller was the former owner of Shumsky Promotional, located in Dayton, OH. She was a second generation owner of Shumsky during the mid-1980’s into the mid-2000’s and one of the early diversity businesses certified as a Woman Owned Business. She was a part of Shumsky for over 40 years - selling, leading and molding teams. She developed her skills from a combination of the mentoring she received from her parents, trial and error, industry education, and her peers.
Carmen Huang is the scholarship recipient and a first-generation college student. She and her family immigrated to America ten years ago and Ms. Huang views her college education as a way to repay her parents for their sacrifices. “This scholarship is more than just a form of financial aid - it is an encouragement that motivates me to continue pursuing my goals.” When Ms. Huang found out she was a scholarship recipient, she was “ecstatic.” Says Huang, “I am inspired to become someone like her [Jayne Emoff Miller] - someone who was not only a female representative of the corporate world but also an outstanding philanthropist who cared for the underprivileged and underrepresented children.”
Michael Emoff, son of Jayne and Chairman of Shumsky, states, “My mother would be incredibly proud and humbled to have the opportunity to continue making a difference in young people’s lives, such as Carmen’s. With this scholarship, we can continue to honor my mother and her legacy in the promotional industry and our community.”
