Apex Companies’ Jay Strauss to Lead Compliance Management Initiatives
Jay Strauss, QHSE expert, joins Apex to help clients increase operational performance and decrease risk.

Jay brings over 25 years of oil and gas industry experience where he has led complex quality, health, safety, and environment (QHSE) initiatives for companies such as Maersk Oil, BP, and ExxonMobil within production and development facilities including refineries, offshore drill rigs, chemical plants, pipelines, terminals, wind farms, and biofuel plants. His expertise spans all facets of air, water/wastewater, waste, release reporting, permitting, marine sound, environmental impact assessments, due diligence, ISO 14001, and Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement Safety and Environmental Management (BSEE SEM) regulations. As Maersk Oil’s Head of QHSE Audit in Denmark, Jay built their audit program and used it to streamline compliance and spearhead policy and procedural improvements. Prior to Maersk, he served as the Corporate Audit, Assurance, and Environmental Director for Ocean Rig in Greece. He also served as BP's Upstream Environmental Manager and Senior Compliance and Risk Auditor where he helped develop an internal global management system audit program that identified Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) risks to their top 100 assets and projects valued up to $10B. At ExxonMobil, Jay held multiple EHS roles in both downstream headquarters and refineries covering air, water, and waste regulations, and implementation of the Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS) program.
Jay holds a masters degree in environmental science from Johns Hopkins University and is IRCA, ISO Lead Auditor, 14001 and OSHA 18001 Lead Auditor certified.
