Volunteers Adopt Senior Mobile Home Park
Saturday, July 22, 2017 was a wonderfully received "Day Of Action" for residents of the Bermuda Senior Adult Mobile Home Park in Mission Hills, CA.
Granada Hills, CA, August 03, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Neighborly Volunteers, Inc. (NV) provided 18 volunteer's time and skills to twenty-seven residents of Bermuda Park. Residents made written requests to replace light bulbs, smoke & carbon monoxide detector batteries, and A/C air filters, as well as other light repairs and furniture assembly at no cost to the residents. NV planned and mobilized these volunteers, Board members, and youth to tackle the planned projects, all of which were accomplished in just four hours. Park manager Jan McLeod, admiring her newly assembled bathroom shelves and sewing cabinet, declared the day a success. NV Founder and President, Chuck Iacobellis, said, "I was so impressed by our volunteers. This was our first major volunteer effort. Everyone had fun, and I was also fascinated by the youth who eagerly stepped up to help from the first few minutes they arrived."
The day began with an appreciated kick of caffeine. The manager of the new Starbucks store in Mission Hills provided complimentary coffee for all volunteers and residents, as did Menchie's ofGranada Hills, who dropped off various flavors of their delicious frozen yogurt and toppings. Truly refreshing and timed so well, just as everyone was finishing up their projects. Thank you both. It was so appreciated.
Some examples of feedback from the residents:
"Very nice and polite. Fixed my drawer slider in one minute. Fantastic service for the park. Let's do this again."
- Donna A.
"I'm glad to have the volunteers come help. They are so nice. Thank you!"
- Harry V.
"Amazing work attitude. This service is very uplifting for seniors who are reluctant to ask for help."
- Jan M.
