Evonne L. Murillo Recognized as a Professional of the Year by Strathmore's Who's Who Worldwide Publication

About Evonne L. Murillo
Ms. Murillo is the Assistant Principal and School Counselor at Southwest Preparatory School-New Directions in San Antonio, Texas. This is a middle and high school providing character education and college preparatory services. She specializes in character development, high school completion and college readiness. Ms. Murillo has been a presenter at the Career and Technology Conference. She has been affiliated with the N.A.S.S.P. and the A.T.C.S.

Born on May 7th in San Antonio, Texas, Ms. Murillo obtained a M.A. in Human Science and a B.A. in Psychology (Certified in Criminal Justice) from Our Lady of the Lake University. She completed the Superintendent Program at Texas A & M University in 2014, and obtained a M.S. in Sports Administration from Southern New Hampshire University in 2017. Previously, Ms. Murillo served as a Student Advisor, Teacher, Counselor and Assistant Principal at San Antonio CAN! High School from August 2002 through March 2009. She was the Founding School Operations Manager and Assistant Principal at KIPP University Prep High School from March 2009 through June 2012. She served as the Campus Testing Coordinator and Principal at Jubilee Academic Center from June 2012 through January 2017. Ms. Murillo has been with Southwest Preparatory School-New Directions since January 2017. In her spare time she enjoys exercising and going to the movies.

While serving as Principal, Ms. Murillo’s campus (Alpha Academy) met State accountability for school years 2012-2014. As administrator, she assisted with the elementary school campus to meet State accountability for school year 2014-2015 noting that the campus was in Stage 1 of Improvement Required. As the Founding School Operations Manager, she was able to start the high school for KIPP University Prep High School in San Antonio, Texas.
