A Casual Affair – Moving Away from the Conservative to Create a Relevant Look

Greenslopes, Australia, August 07, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Innovative Australian uniform supplier, Shirt Studio Corporate, is leading the move away from the traditional ‘conservative’ office uniform to create a more flexible approach where a company uniform is designed to specifically suit their brand – and in some cases leading to a more casual approach.
Mr Anoop Anchal, the CEO of the company, said this recent trend doesn’t come as a huge surprise, and in fact is a welcome turn of events.
“Companies need to look at their uniform as a branding and marketing opportunity – with the rollout out usually a significant investment it’s imperative the uniform is designed to suit the brand rather than opting for the usual ‘catalogue’ style product,” Mr Anchal said.
Uniforms should be designed to make an organisation look approachable and attractive and should be relevant to their brand and business offering,” he said.
“Whether this translates to a more casual uniform style or more dynamic designs, brands want the clothing their employees wear to make a statement to customers and tell a story,” Mr Anchal said.
Mr Anchal said more and more clients are requesting uniforms which can be used as a direct marketing tool. This often means less focus on formal office wear and more focus on vibrant, casual clothing.
Shirt Studio Corporate has recently created the new uniform for AP Eager’s revolutionary new retail concept, Carzoos. This is a perfect example of a company choosing a uniform to suit their brand -to tell a story and not being afraid to experiment with new ideas.
The auto company moved away from the traditional dark suit and white shirt usually seen in this industry and opted for a casual branded uniform to suit their brand.
Mr Anchal said the new uniform represents the lifestyle behind the Carzoos brand – the brief was to create a branded uniform for a professional team to project an approachable attitude and overall demeanor with a vibrant, youthful and contemporary feel.
“The finished product consisted of casual, natural tones in cotton chinos and casual skirts and a lightweight denim shirt to match,” Mr Anchal said.
“The shirts were finished with burnt orange tones contrasted throughout to bring their corporate colours to life and the final touch was finishing the outfits with casual footwear – white converse or similar style trainers,” he said.
The uniforms of past decades were simply about unanimity and professionalism. Organisations such as Shirt Studio Corporate have helped progress a new understanding about the power of uniforms as a branding tool. Office wear has the potential to become a walking billboard for a company, expressing the values and aesthetics of a brand.
“If a brand’s target audience is a more lively and youthful market, then it makes sense for their uniform to be a casual pair of slacks and a tee-shirt, rather than a suit and tie," said Mr Anchal.
This theory seems to be one taken seriously by large brands and small businesses alike. Whether it is the Apple store’s simple graphic tee-shirts or a local cafe’s edgy leather aprons - the definition of uniform has changed over the past decade.
When asked about what Shirt Studio Corporate’s role is in the new wave of uniforms, MrAnchal agreed that it was their ability to customiseuniform wear that set them apart.
“Completely customisable, from head to toe is the best way to work with a brand and as a cutting edge uniform suppliers, that is what we’re all about,” Mr Anchal said.
While the nature of uniform may have changed, research suggests that uniforms are still an important element to corporate life. They unify staff members and communicate values to both employees and customers. Shirt Studio Corporate and other suppliers like them are at the forefront of the new wave of uniforms, more casual than ever but no less important.
