Top 100 Travel Bloggers Reunite in Support of Study Abroad
Sequel to the White House Summit convenes 100 of the top celebrities, journalists, bloggers and digital media influencers in travel in New York City amidst the United Nations General Assembly.
Washington, DC, August 11, 2017 --(PR.com)-- On September 21-23, Hostelling International USA (HI USA) and Partners of the Americas will co-host the Travel Blogger Summit on Study Abroad and Global Citizenship -- a sequel to the prestigious White House event held in December 2014. The 2017 Summit will reconvene 100 of the top celebrities, journalists, bloggers and digital media influencers in travel, and is designed to stay true to the community’s original mandate: Go forth and engage young people about the transformative power of travel and study abroad.
This large scale, prestigious event also acts as a fundraiser for the co hosts’ distinct scholarship and grants programs that enable more young people to embark on a transformative experience abroad. The three day voyage will be expertly steered by Editor in Chief of National Geographic Traveler, George Stone, as emcee alongside travel media darling and famed explorer, Paula Froelich, at HI NYC hostel on the Upper West Side. All Travel Blogger Summit participants will conclude their journey by attending the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park.
Held during the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, this entirely open press event will take place in three parts:
An invite-only Summit will provide a platform to discuss U.S. government initiatives and strategies for encouraging American students to study, volunteer, and work abroad. Dynamic keynote speakers will be complemented by blogger story jams, workshops, and a custom recording studio.
The inaugural Global Goals "Green" Gala will be hosted in HI NYC’s backyard, Manhattan’s largest private green space, and serve as a benefit event open to organizations and individuals. Join the top travel bloggers and industry leaders for an evening promoting the Sustainable Development Goals through study abroad. All proceeds will support HI USA’s Explore The World travel scholarships and Partners of the Americas’ USA Study Abroad Diversity Fund grant program.
All bloggers who partake in meaningful volunteer projects will be rewarded with a ticket to the Global Citizen Festival, with headliners such as Stevie Wonder, Green Day, The Killers, and The Lumineers. The Festival brings together top music with world leaders to make commitments toward health, gender equality education and other poverty issues. Guests earn their tickets after taking a series of actions to effect change around the world. Participants will also enjoy a privately guided photography walk to the festival, led by National Geographic Your Shot.
