Keep Irving Beautiful and Phi Theta Kappa Team for Beautification Project - Group Paints Irving Garden and Arts Center
Irving, TX, August 16, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) has a long history of working with North Lake College and a variety of student and staff groups there, with the longest relationship being that with the Alpha Zeta Eta Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. This group has given of their time over the years in KIB-sponsored activities such as tree planting, park cleanups, event recycling and paint projects.
On Friday, August 11, officers and members of the chapter participated in their latest service project with KIB. Eight volunteers gave twenty-four hours of service in painting a small meeting room at the Irving Garden and Arts Center, a city facility which is used by numerous groups and organizations throughout the year. After a safety speech, the groups began by taping off the room, then picked up their rollers and brushes and gave a fresh coat of bright white paint to the walls and woodwork. The Parks Department provided supplies and technical guidance.
“Participating in a summer service project has become a tradition for our officer team,” said Candace Eldridge, the faculty advisor for Alpha Zeta Eta who also serves on the KIB Board of Directors. “It’s a great team building experience for them as they get ready for the fall semester, and they really appreciate KIB for giving them the opportunity to serve.”
