Los Angeles Sign Painter Finds Inspiration in Reading, PA Seeks to Give Back with a Splash of Color
Reading, PA, August 18, 2017 --(PR.com)-- With brushes and mahl stick in hand, sign painter AlyssaBeth Archambault hit the road mere hours after receiving her Associate of Arts degree in June and headed east from California to sling some paint and explore. She landed in Reading to fulfill an artist residency and has chosen to extend her visit to embrace the community and the change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.
"The architecture, old factories, and rich history of this city intrigue me,” Archambault says. “You can read it in the ghost signs. L.A. has its own story to tell, but nothing like Reading. In recent years,” she continues, “sign painting has made a comeback after the vinyl and digital world darkened the time-honored trade. Now people all over the country, primarily the younger generation, are taking an interest in learning the craft or hiring a sign painter to paint their sign and it is wonderful!”
Strolling the Reading neighborhoods with her dog, Alyssa is getting to know the people who build and sustain this community, seeking opportunities to connect with businesses and community projects." During her stay she’s committed herself to using her skills and artistry to brighten up streets and storefronts.
But Alyssa doesn’t require a painted sign to define her current life’s purpose. “I love connecting with people through art. My goal is to share as many positive experiences with others as possible and finish each day with a full heart.”
About The Artist
AlyssaBeth Archambault has two passions: sign-painting and beekeeping. She runs Bee’s Knees Sign Co., a Los Angeles enterprise focusing on one-of-a-kind handmade commercial and personal signs for storefronts, A-frames, chalkboards, and banners. Raised in Long Beach, California, AlyssaBeth graduated with an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from the highly regarded Sign Graphics program of Los Angeles Trade-Technical College—the only sign-painting program of its kind in the world. She has conducted several workshops on sign-painting in the L.A. area, drawing on her longstanding involvement in the worlds of theater, music, and graphic arts. Whether commercially or artistically, AlyssaBeth is dedicated to encouraging creativity and community while perpetuating hand-lettered signs and healthy honeybees. Sweet.
