Since 2012, Doug Woolverton's tribute to Miles Davis has become a popular musical performance and hugely successful among traditional Miles Davis fans to music enthusiasts of all ages. Doug and his world-class team of musicians brings the audience back in time through the sounds, styles and carefully hand-picked song selection from Miles Davis' hits from the 1970's to the early 1990's.
Big Noise has worked with Doug since 2014.
This performance will showcase Doug's natural ability to channel Davis' sound through his 1947 Martin Committee trumpet and Doug's secret weapon: a custom built pedal board which will produce sounds that will bring an audience on a musical journey. It was in these eras where Miles focused on funky grooves and the versatile sounds of his trumpet while showcasing his band members and their musicianship. Miles used the sound of his trumpet to imitate a lead vocalist, covering pop tunes and radio hits by famed artists like Michael Jackson, Cindy Lauper, and Prince. He arranged and recorded their hits, turning them into complete instrumentals and maintained a presence at the top of the pop charts as an instrumentalist.
Woolverton's band for this special show will consist of:
Doug Woolverton - Trumpet
Rusty Scott - B3/Rhodes
Johny Keys - Keyboard/Synth
Jeff Lockhart - Guitar
Lenny Stallworth - Bass
Joe Davis Jr. - Drums
Shari Puorto - Vocalist
