The Schultz Family Foundation Supports MSCCN’s Military Spouse Employment Initiatives with a $250,000 Grant

Lake St. Louis, MO, August 26, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Building upon the long-term success of the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN) and its military spouse employment initiatives, the Schultz Family Foundation recently directed a $250,000 grant to MSCCN from its donor advised fund at Silicon Valley Community Foundation. The award supports job placement and employment success of our nation’s military spouse community.

Military spouses face unique challenges related to their military member’s service. Frequent moves, uncertainty over stay in one geographic location, and designation as the primary parent contribute to the military spouse’s negative employment outlook. A recent study placed military spouse unemployment at 16%, approximately four times the national average for women. Spouses face gaps in employment, inconsistent training, and license transfer difficulties that impact their career trajectory, self-actualization, and family’s financial security and future.

Speaking out on the impact of military service on spouse employment, Deb Kloeppel, Founder and President of CASY & MSCCN explained, “Military service should not preclude spouses from building their own careers and contributing to their families’ long-term security. Our programs expand employment opportunities and facilitate job placements. They also address key employment issues and hurdles by offering innovative solutions to successfully combat spouse underemployment. We are excited to have the support of The Schultz Family Foundation and look forward to the successful outcomes of their support.”

“We are pleased to support MSCCN in assisting military spouses to build their careers,” said Daniel Pitasky, executive director of the Schultz Family Foundation. “They sacrifice in many ways to support our military and their families and we are working to ensure that they do not have to sacrifice their careers as well.”

Through this grant, MSCCN will increase the number of military spouses placed into meaningful jobs which match their skills, qualifications, and needs. MSCCN’s model expands relationships with employers that want to hire military spouses and educates recruiters on the value that military spouses bring to the company.
