Joanne Walker, R.N. is Named Professional of the Year by the International Assoc. of Who’s Who
Joanne Walker of Los Angeles, California, recognized by the International Assoc. of Who’s Who for exemplary achievements in the fields of Nursing and Legal Nurse Consulting.
New York, NY, August 27, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Joanne Walker is the Founder, President, and Legal Nurse Consultant of Clarity Medical Legal Consulting. With more than 30 years of nursing experience, she serves as a crucial asset to the field of Legal Nurse Consulting and an invaluable partner to both colleagues and patients alike.
Ms. Walker received her Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Towson University in Maryland. Encouraged by two summers of study in England, Ms. Walker embarked on a career teaching abroad. She taught at a nursery school in Oxford and worked at the Radcliffe Infirmary. This experience led Ms. Walker to consider the field of nursing. Upon completing her studies at the Swindon District School of Nursing, where she earned her Diploma of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, she began work at a hospital in Sheffield, England. Her nursing career in Sheffield focused on the peri-operative area (the Operating Room and the Post Anesthetic Care Unit) for the next 8 years. She then traveled to New Zealand where she spent two years broadening her nursing career.
In 2003, Ms. Walker moved back to Maryland and continued her work in the peri-op area. Her passion for nursing and tenacity for growth in and around the field led her to explore the idea of starting her own business. She was particularly interested in finding the best way to use her expertise to help patients with the legal and ethical implications of the healthcare industry. She began to study Legal Nurse Consulting, a specialty that would enable her to utilize her clinical experience of over 30 years to assist attorneys with nursing and medical issues in the legal arena. She founded Clarity Medical Legal Consulting in 2009 while managing an outpatient procedural unit at a local hospital in California.
As a Legal Nurse Consultant, Ms. Walker uses her extensive knowledge, perioperative experience, and assessment skills to assist attorneys with medical-related cases so that they can address patient issues appropriately and thoroughly. She analyzes medical records, demystifies the intricacies, pinpoints errors of omission, and fills in what is missing in the nursing narrative of care. Ms. Walker also conducts evidence-based research, prepares both oral and written reports for plaintiff and defense cases, reviews documentation related to nurse licensing issues, and testifies as an expert witness in deposition and at trial. She also assists attorneys by locating physician and other para-medical expert witnesses for their cases.
Ms. Walker’s professional accomplishments have garnered her accolades throughout her career. The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honored her as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year and Oxford Who’s Who inducted her into its highest professional distinction “Top Tier of Excellence Lifetime Achievement Recognition” in October of 2015.
Always looking toward the future, Ms. Walker states, “My goal is to become recognized by my legal nurse and attorney colleagues as a “go-to” resource in this field.” She welcomes new partnerships with clients, collaborative projects to advance nursing research, and keynote speaking engagement invitations.
