Shorecrest and Jack and Jill Inc. to Host HBCU College Fair Sunday, September 17
St. Petersburg, FL, August 30, 2017 --(PR.com)-- The Suncoast Chapter Teens of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. will host its inaugural Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) College Fair from 1pm-5pm on Sunday, September 17 at Shorecrest Preparatory School in St. Petersburg.
This free community event will feature college recruiters and alumni representing over 30 HBCUs including Howard University, Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Fisk University, Tennessee State, Edward Waters College, Florida Memorial and Florida A&M University.
“Support of Historically Black Colleges and Universities is part of Jack and Jill’s national program thrust which aims to help students explore a variety of higher learning opportunities and increase cultural awareness,” says Jack and Jill of America Teen Sponsor, Dr. Nathalia Jeffrey-Fort.
Attendees will also hear from a panel of recent HBCU graduates. Panelists will discuss their college experience, while highlighting the importance of higher education at an HBCU. All students are encouraged to participate and speak with representatives about admissions, financial aid, testing, majors and more.
The event is hosted at Shorecrest Preparatory School. “College placement and success is a core part of our mission,” says Shorecrest Headmaster Mike Murphy. “Shorecrest is pleased to partner with Jack and Jill Inc. to put on this important event.”
