Campus Consortium Awards Dakota Wesleyan University $20,000 Grant to Implement Campus Safety App
Mitchell, SD, September 01, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Campus Consortium, the largest global education association of schools, colleges and universities awards $20,000 Grant to Dakota Wesleyan University for the BlueLight Emergency Mobile App.
"This Grant will help fund a mobile app for the safety of our students and faculty. With the near universal adoption of smartphones, it's important that this safety feature be available on these devices, so that, with the tap of a button, students can alert police, medical services, friends and family of an emergency. We are very pleased to receive a Grant from Campus Consortium." - Dr. Roidt, Provost at Dakota Wesleyan University.
The Campus Consortium Grant will enable the Dakota Wesleyan University to further strengthen the safety and security of its students, faculty and staff. The "BlueLight" app allows students to contact campus safety with the touch of a button and automatically gives campus safety the caller's location. Students can further customize it to send alerts to their parents, guardians or friends in case of an emergency. Some additional benefits of the app include:
-Hospitalization and insurance information is available in a single location.
-Designated guardians can be alerted to the location of an emergency.
-Users are able to discreetly alert authorities.
-Provides contact for local emergency resources (ER, police station, fire department) and their locations.
"The Campus Consortium Grant Committee is proud to present this award to Dakota Wesleyan University," states Anjli Jain, Chairman of the Campus Consortium. "The app can prevent mishaps and definitely prove to be an asset for student security."
