Book Synopsis

When we think about the founding fathers of the United States, we envisage Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Washington, and many others in the late 1700s. In the 1640 colonies, those founding fathers would have been killed for their beliefs. The real history begins 150 years before Jefferson & Adams with the pioneer/patriots who created the template our founding fathers used to build this great nation.

About the Author
As a child, Michael Gorton was the poor kid next door who had a dream and was willing to work to achieve that dream. He grew up in a family where his parents and four siblings taught him to set goals and stay persistent. While working full time, he earned degrees in Physics, Engineering and Law. After working 12 yrs in corporate America, he is now an entrepreneur who has founded 9 companies, including: TelaDoc, the world’s largest telemedicine company. Forefathers & Founding Fathers is Michael’s 5th novel. The first four: USSA, Lex Talionis, Tachyon Tunnel, and Born Again American were all written for fun with the intent of giving to a small group of friends and family, although Born Again American took on a life of its own. The initial goal with Forefathers, was similar - to just give to friends & family, but upon completion, many professional authors told him this was an important and unknown story that needed to be told. Forefathers has begun with remarkable success and positive feedback. Michael is a runner who has completed 18 marathons, a 2nd degree black belt in Kenpo, and mountain climber. He and his family are currently climbing the highest points of elevation in the 50-states. They have 38 done.

The New Apple Summer E-Book Awards for Excellence in Independent Publishing was established to honor the creative achievements of the unsung books fighting for their place within the digital publishing world. Any English language e-book published within the last three years, currently available for sale by an independent author or small press that met the Awards' guidelines was eligible for entry. One book was chosen in each category as the solo Medalist Winner receiving the highest honors. In addition, the judges were permitted to choose up to three Official Selections for category distinction.
