Matrix IT Wins AIM 2017 AIDC Case Study Competition
Matrix IT was declared winner of the AIM 2017 AIDC Case Study Competition for furthering AIDC technology in the healthcare vertical. AIM notes, “It [TRACTUS] is considered a game changer for standards and verification of small data matrix codes by many in the industry.”
Washington, DC, September 14, 2017 --(PR.com)-- AIM Global, the worldwide standards agency for AIDC and barcode technology has announced that Matrix IT, Medical Tracking Systems Inc. has won the 2017 Case Study Competition for AIDC. The award is given to those in the industry who drive “innovation and technologies which provide benefits that decrease risk” and push the adoption of automated data collection systems further. The TRACTUS platform, by Matrix, is a patented automated system that captures all implants, including micro sized data matrix codes (as small as 0.5mm^2) in the operating room, instantly. Data capture in the operating room works by using a sterile scanner, and a handheld scanner, capturing 1D, 2D, and RFID codes. AIM notes that,
“It [TRACTUS] is considered a game changer for standards and verification of small data matrix codes by many in the industry.”
The award comes at a significant time as the FDA and EU regulatory authorities have begun to tighten the requirements surrounding UDI law and AIDC requirements for medical device manufacturers. At present, the technology package by Matrix IT is the only comprehensive software and hardware system that can capture the UDI from all types of AIDC means employed in the operating room.
