Cooley Group Launches Improved, Stand-Alone Awning Solution
Weathertyte® PLUS - and its lightweight version Weathertyte PLUS Lite - is designed for use in awnings, pole banners, marine applications, canopies, umbrellas, garden furniture, and other specialty applications. The product is the premier alternative to woven acrylics currently in the market and features a softer hand, superior strength, and bolder, deeper image quality. It will be officially launched at the IFAI Expo 2017 in New Orleans, LA (September 26-29).
Pawtucket, RI, September 20, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Cooley Group, a global designer, developer, and manufacturer of high-performance, sustainable industrial membranes, announced today the launch of Weathertyte PLUS, a premier product designed for use in commercial awning applications. The product solution features the benefits of the original flagship Weathertyte® product, with a softer hand, superior strength, and bolder, deeper image quality.
“We’ve leveraged our decades-long industry insight and world-class R&D, and we now have an offering unlike any other in the marketplace,” explains David Lunati, EVP and General Manager of Cooley Group’s Commercial Graphics division. “Weathertyte PLUS is revolutionary in that it offers the high performance of vinyl with the look, feel, and texture of a woven fabric. It has improved workability; it is colorfast, waterproof, flame-retardant, and most importantly, it is supported by Cooley’s 90-year history of proven performance,” he added.
Chiefly an awning product, Weathertyte PLUS - and its lightweight version Weathertyte PLUS Lite - is also used in pole banners, marine applications, canopies, umbrellas, garden furniture, and other specialty applications.
Weathertyte PLUS is stocked in thirteen custom colors (and also in white) and stripes, and is now available via various distributors nationwide. Additional notable features include improved weldability and easier fabrication.
“We have used the original version for years, and we are very pleased with the new Weathertyte product from Cooley,” said Chris Reber from Illuminated Image, an Indiana-based nationwide supplier serving the sign and awning industry since 1989. “Specifically, we noticed that it is even more pliable than the previous generation, allowing technicians to complete installation at a faster pace, providing cost savings. Overall, it is just a more attractive product.”
Cooley Group was founded in 1926 solely as an awning manufacturer. Now in its 91st year, the company has established itself as an expert in polymer technology and coated industrial fabrics across three divisions: Commercial Graphics, Engineered Membranes, and Building Products.
Cooley’s other notable initiatives include creating the engineered membrane that contained the 2010 Gulf oil spill, designing Times Squareʼs first solar-powered billboard, developing a sustainable stadium wrap for the London 2012 Olympics, and more recently, manufacturing an NSF-certified reservoir cover technology for potable water storage, with initial projects in Australia and South Africa.
The IFAI Expo is organized by the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI), a member-owned, member-driven trade association representing the global industrial fabrics industry, providing events, publications, education, networking, industry advocacy, and other resources. This year’s event will be held September 26-29 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA. Cooley Group will be located at booth # 1547.
