Overcoming Obstacles Launches Free Elementary Level Curriculum
Overcoming Obstacles is launching an elementary level component of its free, award-winning, life skills curriculum.
New York, NY, September 28, 2017 --(PR.com)-- From academically challenged students to high achieving students, every young person must learn how to communicate effectively, make sound decisions, and set meaningful goals in order to lead a healthy childhood and become a responsible and caring adult. Knowing how to resolve a conflict, build positive relationships, and cope with stressful situations is essential.
Overcoming Obstacles, the award winning nonprofit life skills curriculum publisher, has just announced the publication of its new, and highly anticipated, elementary level curriculum to complete its suite of free Kindergarten through 12th grade life skills activities and lessons. Since 1992, the Overcoming Obstacles educational materials have helped more than 45,000 educators across the U.S. and in 100 countries teach over 15 million young people life skills.
The largest use of Overcoming Obstacles curriculum materials takes place in New York City where the NYC Department of Education has used the lessons on communication, decision making and goal setting as part of the district’s advisory period to great results.
Lois Herrera, CEO, Safety and Youth Development, New York City Public Schools, says about Overcoming Obstacles’ impact in New York City, “Schools that have embedded Overcoming Obstacles life skills curriculum into the fabric of what they do see an improvement in school culture and climate. It helps students to be goal focused, build relationships, create a plan, and realize how school fits into that larger plan that they have for themselves.”
The K-2 and Grades 3-5 life skills lessons will be posted at www.overcomingobstacles.org on September 29, 2017. Just like the Overcoming Obstacles middle school and high school curricula, elementary level materials will be free to educators in the U.S. and throughout the world now and forever. Overcoming Obstacles is a recipient of The National Dropout Prevention Center’s Crystal Star Award for dropout recovery, intervention and prevention.
