Offshore Wind as an Exponentially Growing Sector in the Benelux Region

SMi Reports: With offshore wind an exponentially growing sector in Benelux, the Benelux Infrastructure Forum, 2017, will be a platform for experts in this sector to discuss and learn about the latest developments in the market.

London, United Kingdom, September 30, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Offshore wind is one of the largest utility scale forms of renewable energy, and is becoming an integral part of the energy mix. Its traditionally long term stable cash flows underpinned by solid regulatory regimes have allowed the industry to increasingly attract infrastructure capital.

The offshore wind sector, however, is developing at an unprecedented pace. Subsidy levels have dropped dramatically in recent tenders, with new and larger turbines being developed and deployed.

With increased investment interest in this sector, and a common goal of reducing both energy and costs on projects, SMi’s 16th annual conference; Benelux Infrastructure Forum will be a platform for experts and specialists in offshore wind to stay updated with the latest developments in this market.

Nick Gardiner, Managing Director of the Green Investment Group, will be presenting an exclusive session at SMi’s Benelux Infrastructure Forum in Amsterdam, on 23rd November 2017.

Speaking on Day 2 of the conference, Mr Gardiner’s presentation will cover an overview of "...active international investors in Dutch offshore wind and how to further improve engagement."

Mr Gardiner will be joined afterwards by a panel discussion "Addressing European jurisdictional differences made apparent in recent offshore wind auction process and tender systems." Panellists for this discussion include Werner Runge, Partner at Allen and Overy LLP; Boris Balan, Vice President of Europe for Northland Power and Martin in de Braekt, Partner at Stibbe.

Alongside the two-day conference, SMi Group will be hosting a pre-conference workshop entitled "Financing Offshore Wind in the New Competitive Auction Environment." The workshop will aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the industry, its potential, challenges and capital requirements. The workshop will also enable attendees to investigate how to remain involved in the rapidly changing regulatory environment. The Partners at Amsterdam Capital Partners will be leading this session.
