Detroit, MI, October 05, 2017 --(PR.com)-- The shimmering Detroit River will serve as a fitting backdrop for the Detroit Has Heart Fundraising Gala. This event commemorating over a decade of service by Family2Family will honor the memory of NFL Hall of Fame honoree Charlie Sanders and will serve as a catalyst for meeting the needs of hundreds of families in Metro Detroit and beyond.
Family2Family was birthed from the passion of sisters Charese Sailor and Mary Jo Sanders. Charese and Mary Jo, daughters of the NFL legend Charlie Sanders, believed that people would be willing to give, if they understood the need and trusted Family2Family as a conduit between donors and those needing help. The sisters, who cofounded the organization in 2005, then teamed with local agencies, businesses and other families to generate aid and support to families in need. Proceeds from the gala will underwrite Family2Family’s programs such as the Inner-City Youth Hunger initiatives, Emergency relief for families and at-risk children and Quality of Life initiatives.
Managed by CDJ & Associates and Sponsored by Metro Detroit’s powerhouse sports organizations, The Detroit Lions and the Detroit Pistons, this event is sure to be a game changer in Metro Detroit philanthropy. Other major sponsors include the Beaumont Health System, Andiamo’s Detroit, McDonalds | Jamjormar Group, Tocco & Associates, UAW Ford and the Bing Youth Institute, which is headed by former Mayor & Detroit Piston, the honorable Dave Bing. Mr. Bing who was a dear friend to Sanders, also serves as the honorary chair of Detroit Has Heart event. Mr. Bing states “I hope you will join us for an unforgettable night. The gala will benefit Family2Family’s emergency relief center, its programs and local student heart checks, which was dear to the 'Great 88’s' [Sanders] heart.”
The event, featuring renowned sports and media personalities, will also showcase the One Heart Award recipient, Former Detroit Lion and NFL star Herman Moore. Moore, like Sanders, came from out of state to make his home in Michigan as a Detroit Lion and has remained planted in the Detroit community even after his successful NFL career.
"The Detroit Has Heart event will be amazing Star studded night of coming together to aid our communities," states Co-Co-founder, Charese Sailor. "There are sponsorships still available and we will have an auction that includes amazing donated prizes such as a NFL Hall of Fame weekend and a TYP Collection original of my father’s famous catch. Ms. Sailor adds. To close the evening out, we have planned incredible entertainment including a live simulcast of the MSU vs U of M game on the big screens."
