Van Nuys, CA, October 13, 2017 --(PR.com)-- JetPack Aviation Still Cruising Ahead of the Pack

JetPack Aviation is looking forward to being part of the recently announced Boeing funded JetPack competition. Based in Van Nuys, CA. JetPack Aviation, creator of the world’s first small, practical, backpack style turbine JetPack is watching with interest to see which team will be 2nd in the race to create a personal micro VTOL craft.

JPA made headlines in 2015 with its first public, FAA authorized flight around the Statue of Liberty. Subsequent public demonstration flights have included crossing the Royal London Docks, circling the Port of Monaco and passing the Queen Mary in Long Beach CA.

Company co-founders David Mayman and Nelson Tyler began their partnership with a clear set of objectives for their micro VTOL craft: it must be small and portable, simple to operate, powerful and dependable, operable within government regulations, and fun. And on all points they have met their objectives. The current model JB10 is worn like a comfortable backpack, easily fits in the back of a standard SUV, adheres to FAA guidelines, and some versions can reach speeds in excess of 100 mph. And is it fun? Is it ever.

Said CEO and principal pilot David Mayman, “I have made hundreds of JetPack flights to date and every time I throttle up those turbine engines and feel the lifting power it is a thrill. And flying the JetPack is very intuitive. I want to go forward, I lean forward. I want to turn, I lean left or right. In fact, we recently trained a US military operator to fly in about a week and he made an amazing demo flight for top officials.“

JetPack Aviation thinks the competition is a great idea as it will hopefully accelerate development in the personal VTOL space. Mayman said, “There are so many talented people that could add to the current state of technology and we hope they get involved, at JPA we are already working on a complete suite of micro VTOL craft for a wide range of applications including military, first responders, and recreation. There is also a whisper quiet, all electric, eco-friendly model already on the design table.

“The company is also committing substantial resources to complete a fail safe pilot recovery system to protect both the JetPack Pilot and pedestrians below in case of an operational anomaly.”

Said Mayman, “We wish the other teams well and we are looking forward to a really exciting period of development. We’re proud to be able to say that we were first but we want the see the whole industry to grow.”
