Charles Edda & Charles Bouley, Inc. and the Cognitive Institute Team Up to Teach Business Owners About Fake News and Digital Media

North Texas Companies Attend Training Event to Promote Citywide Collaboration for National Cyber Security Awareness.

Dallas, TX, October 08, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Charles Edda & Charles Bouley, Inc. and the Cognitive Institute are teaming up fourth quarter 2017 and throughout fiscal year 2018 to inform Texas businesses about online presence and their reputation. As part of National Cyber Security Awareness, President Dr. Ra’chael Fisher will present data security tips and concepts to small businesses in North Texas.

Alongside her presentation are guest speakers representing public health, global legalities from the Department of Homeland Security and other cybersecurity-based organizations promoting the same messaging. According to Barthel, Mitchell and Holcomb from the Pew Research Center, many Americans believe Fake News is sowing confusion. From their reporting in 2016, 23% say they have shared a made-up news story – either knowingly or not. Dr. Fisher mirrors the sentiments of the Pew Research Center stating, American citizens and business owners alike are raising concerns about fake news and the potential impact on both personal, business and associate life along with innocent individuals.

The event comes at an important time, as recent studies from cyber security-based organizations found that small businesses make up 62 percent of cyber-security breaches. Charles Edda and Charles Bouley, Inc a cyber-security company in 2015 noted 83 percent of U.S. small business owners do not have a cyber-security plan in place to guide their response should a breach hit. If a breach happens, if individuals find fake news migrating across the global world wide web, most businesses have a 92% failure to respond rate. U.S. lawmakers are not sure how to impose sanctions internationally as well as nationally – and it’s leaving businesses with little guide to security.

Experts agree that clients haven’t the budget or scheduled defense fund to contribute to the increasing problem online. Organizations are absent of awareness of cyber cautions; but it is becoming increasingly alarming and debilitating. In respect to reputation, virtual worlds and digital presence the Pew Research Center report most Americans suspect that made-up news is having an impact. And a grave majority say they have spread fake news knowingly or unknowingly. Within this same dynamic, about two-in-three U.S. adults (64%) say fabricated news stories cause a great deal of confusion about the basic facts of current issues and events.

“Both Charles Edda & Charles Bouley and The Cognitive Institute of Dallas began as small businesses and understand the unique security challenges that organizations of this size can encounter. There is no shortage of hackers with intrusion software ready and willing to cypher your and your employee’s data.

“Our Job is empowerment, education and collaboration. We aim to empower businesses with the digital power they need for their company. It’s time to make security choices and properly manage vulnerabilities,” said Dr. Fisher.

“Safety and security are priorities for The Cognitive Institute of Dallas, and we’re committed to providing our customers with the support and information they need to keep their assets – including sensitive data – safe and sound. We’re pleased to work with a Texas-based leader in the security industry to share expertise with our local small business customers,” said a committee member region for The Cognitive Institute of Dallas.
