North Shropshire College Special Effects Students Create Make-Up Just Perfect for Halloween
Oswestry, United Kingdom, October 12, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Beauty students from North Shropshire College (NSC) have been practising some gory creations as part of their course, the Level 3 Theatrical Media, Hair and Make-up course.
One element of the course is the media make-up module. The module focuses on special effects and media make-up and teaches students how to create casualty effects and character looks, using the application of small prosthetics. Students have to conduct research, create designs and use mood boards before executing their designs.
Sharon Cooper, Commercial Services Manager comments, "The students are thoroughly enjoying the new diploma, it’s giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their creative skills and utilise their imagination in developing different images. This course gives students progression opportunities to higher education at degree level and to a wide range of careers in TV, theatre and film."
Jade Hughes from Oswestry is a student on the course and has been with the College for two years already completing both Level 2 Beauty and Level 3 Spa Therapy. Jade says of the course, "I love the course so far, it’s more than I expected it to be. I have much more freedom with this course to experiment with new techniques and creating looks the way I want to. In the future I would like to work within special effects make-up or traditional make-up within television, and am hoping to complete my work experience at Media City in Manchester. I’d say to anyone wanting to do the course to 100% do it! There’s lots of aspects to it such as bridal make-up as well as special effects, there’s something for everyone."
To find out more about this course, come along to the Oswestry Campus Open Evening on Wednesday 14th October 5pm-8pm or you can apply online via www.nsc.ac.uk. You can also contact the Admissions Team via 01691 688080.
