The Insider Threat Alliance Launches for the Public and Private Sectors
On October 11th, 2017, The Insider Threat Alliance (ITA) was officially launched in Washington, D.C.. A registered 501 c(3) nonprofit, ITA was created to form a non-partisan forum dedicated solely to advancing the federal government and private sector’s capabilities to prevent, detect and mitigate insider threats.
Washington, D.C., DC, October 16, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Founded in the belief that economic security equals national security, ITA serves as a bridge and catalyst for collaboration that brings together insider threat stakeholders across the whole of government, private sectors (from retail, utilities, banking, pharma, telecom, etc...) and academia working to mitigate and combat insider threats. It is open to any member of these organizations that is a U.S. citizen, regardless as to the stage and robustness of their respective programs.
Currently, membership is free for everyone. Registration takes less than a minute and captures less personal information than a Linkedin profile, but because of its searchable design and membership pages, it serves as a focused and robust resource for the topic and community of insider threat.
“An insider threat is organization agnostic and there is no one singular solution or widget for creating an insider threat program, and hence there is a great need to bring together everyone in a community that inspires collaboration, information sharing and brainstorming. To this end, ITA provides it's members structured, in person forums, task forces and symposia in NYC and the D.C. metro area, and hosts an active, content rich networking, online website for members,” stated Monica Mckenzie, Member of the Board of Directors of ITA.
“We have set up a membership directory that allow members to search for colleagues with specific expertise, and then direct message them. So, for example, if I am a utility company looking to set up an insider threat program, I can join ITA for free, and then search someone who has a legal expertise or behavioral analysis background, or perhaps I am someone from government who wants to discover ‘lessons learned’ in establishing cultural buy – in from my workforce, I can access folks from across all sectors to learn about their approaches to the topic,” Ms. Mckenzie further stated.
“We are also creating group discussion boards on certain topics and providing recent news and resources for members to utilize. We have volunteered our time and resources towards establishing the Alliance because we truly believe it can be an extremely useful tool for the entire nation towards preventing, detecting and mitigating insider threats,” stated Tom Engelman, Member of the Board of Directors.
The Alliance's success will take a whole of community effort and all sectors and expertise involved in insider threat programs are encouraged to join. To learn more about how you or your organization may get involved, visit the Alliance at: https://insiderthreatalliance.org
