Paul Bryan Jr. and Ananda Moorman-Art Opening at the Mint Gallery
Dana Point, CA, February 21, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The mint gallery presents: A Dual Art Exhibition “Legends,” featuring Paul Bryan Jr.’S Canvas Collection and Photography By Ananda, March 15th 7pm-10pm
Paul Bryan Jr. has painted celebrities and politicians for more than 30 years. His list of fans and collectors is extensive, ranging from Bob Dylan, Madonna and Peter Fonda to former president Bill Clinton. His art simply captures the portrait of a legend and freezes it in time. Paul Bryan Jr. said his hyper-realistic art was inspired by the simplicity of Oriental art paired with his love of Western pop-culture. His legendary collection includes Jim Morrison, Bob Marley, Ed Vedder, Mick Jagger and Kurt Cobain, to name a few. Most are two tone portraits, all punctuated by his signature red dot.
Joining the show with Paul Bryan Jr. is cinematographer Ananda Moorman. Ananda’s trademark photographic methods include processing 16mm still frames from motion picture film into large format photos. This process secured him all four album covers for legendary rock band Pearl Jam’s latest box set release. He was also nominated for MTV’s Video Music Award for the Pearl Jam music video, “Life Wasted”. His unique vision has caught the eye of many artists including Chris Cornell, Travis Barker, Ed Vedder, and world famous skateboarders Jake Brown, Bob Burnquist and Danny Way. Ananda’s recent works include: Director of Photography for Chris Cornell’s “ No Such thing as Nothing” music video, winner of best experimental short film at the New York Film Festival, Taylor Knox’s surfing documentary, “Medication” and award winning sports documentary, “I am Danny Way”. His band, Escalera, featuring Danny Way on guitar and Bob Burnquist on percussion, will be debuting their first full-length album during their cd release party on March 8th at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach.
