Employability and Development Courses at College Are Resounding Success
Oswestry, United Kingdom, October 19, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Students on North Shropshire College’s (NSC) Level 1 Employability and Development Skills course recently undertook a variety of exciting vocational tasters, giving them a taste of the many subject areas that NSC has to offer. The OCN Level 1 qualification gives learners the chance to improve their confidence and develop their personal skills, whilst also developing their skills in key employability areas such as CV writing and interview preparation.
During the course, students are able to pick a variety of study pathways from Hospitality and Catering, Construction and Hairdressing to Sport, Land Based Studies and Care Services, giving them a wide variety of subject areas and potential career options to choose from. Students also benefit from two weeks of work experience on the course that gives them on the job experience and skills that will give them the ability to succeed in today’s competitive job market.
Georgina Scott, Employability Student at NSC comments, “I really enjoy taking part in hairdressing every week. The most enjoyable part is getting the chance to work on reception, and I get to learn really exciting things such as learning how to do fishtail braids.”
Anna Thomas, Curriculum Area Manager for Independent Living, Child and Healthcare Studies adds, “We are really pleased with the progress of our students since the beginning of the new Academic Year. The course has given them the opportunity to really develop their personal skills and self-confidence, as well as the skills to succeed in their chosen vocational areas, and we hope to continue to give them these excellent opportunities in the future.”
