Mother and Daughter Team Up to Help Women with Cancer
Romance Author Caridad Pineiro and her daughter, shop owner Samantha Scordato, are working together to raise funds for Mary’s Place by the Sea, a respite home for women receiving treatment for cancer.
Ocean Grove, NJ, October 19, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Pineiro is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author who has sold over one million romance novels worldwide. A cancer survivor, Pineiro says, “I was lucky that my cancer was caught early, but I have seen family and friends suffer with this horrible disease. When I heard about Mary’s Place by the Sea, I knew I had to find a way to help support such a wonderful cause.”
Scordato, the owner of OG Surf and Skate in Ocean Grove, chimed in on her mother’s desire to help others and her career as a romance author. “I’ve always been proud of my mom’s desire to help anyone she could. To be a part of the helping makes me feel inspired. As for my writing, having event with other authors always boosts my desire to continue writing books people will love to read!”
This mother and daughter duo will be hosting a book launch party for Pineiro’s critically acclaimed One Summer Night which was released by Sourcebooks Casablanca on October 3. One Summer Night is a Publishers Weekly Top 10 Fall Romance and was recently featured in the New York Times Book Review.
Why host the event in a surf and skate shop in Ocean Grove? “The location was chosen since my daughter’s shop has a cameo appearance in One Summer Nightand the sequel due out next June, What Happens In Summer. In addition, in the novels the fictional town of Sea Kiss was loosely based on Ocean Grove.”
The event will be held on Sunday, October 29 from 2 to 5 p.m. at OG Surf and Skate, 53 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove, New Jersey. A portion of proceeds from book sales and sales at OG Surf and Skate during the event will be donated to Mary’s Place by the Sea. Light refreshments will also be served.
