Jayamma Mane: A Home for Destitutes in Rural Bangalore by VOSD for People
Bangalore, India, March 28, 2018 --(PR.com)-- VOSD for People today announced that it will start a home for destitutes in Doddaballapur Taluk in Rural Bangalore. The home will be called "Jayamma Mane" (Jayamma’s Home), and will have up to 50 full time residents in Phase 1 of operations. "VOSD for People" runs large scale education and medical interventions for the underprivileged and is part of the VOSD 80G Trust that runs the world’s largest no-kill dog sanctuary in Bangalore.
Jayamma Mane is named after an 80-year-old resident of Doddaballapur, in Rural Bangalore. She lost her husband, and then, her only son. Her family threw her out of their home taking control of all her property. She was forced to survive on her meagre pension of 500 rupees a month. A few months ago, her situation had deteriorated so much that she jumped into a well, and killed herself.
VOSD for People has decided to focus on providing the destitute of rural Bangalore a clean, safe home for life. It will be called Jayamma Mane in her honour.
VOSD already provides large-scale human grade nutrition, prepares upto 1000 meals a day, and gives medical care.
Jayamma Mane will be built in a phased manner. Phase 1 will provide permanent residence for up to 50 people and will have a custom-built permanent structure covering a 10,000 sq. ft. area earmarked for this, with similar area available for expansion. Separate ladies and gents dormitories with independent sleeping and elder-friendly furniture will be provided. There will be 24x7 power backup for the entire facility. The kitchen will provide three nutritious daily meals of rice, chicken/ eggs, vegetables, and dal. To ensure safety, there will be 24x7 CCTV surveillance of all dorms, kitchens, common and outdoor areas (other than toilets and bathrooms). For medical care, there will be a doctor on call 24x7. All donations will enjoy 80G exemption.
Jayamma Mane will be 10-15 minutes away from Columbia Asia and other large medical facilities in Doddaballapur and Tumkur that VOSD for People is associated with. Lifelong personal care and medical care will be provided to the resident on premises and in case of any medical situations arising, they will receive the best medical facilities available at private hospitals in the vicinity. Daily verbal/physical checkups for all residents by an available doctor and weekly/ monthly medical exam by visiting specialists from Bangalore’s leading specialists will be provided for. Cremation with due religious process for residents that pass on.
