An Indiana native, Murans has longstanding interests in sports, particularly basketball and horse racing. Murans was a captain on the Southwest Missouri State basketball team that advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 1999. Murans grew up watching the Kentucky Derby with awe, and that fascination has led to the deep personal satisfaction of participating as an investor in professional horse racing “Even if I’m way too tall to be a jockey,” he says.
