"Simulation Center in a Box" SBIR Grant Awarded to StackFrame, LLC

Orlando, FL, February 24, 2008 --(PR.com)-- StackFrame, LLC, in partnership with Applied Research Associates, Inc., has been awarded a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to address the setup and support costs of simulation systems capable of training a maneuver battalion with a “Simulation Center in a Box.”

Current simulation systems require dozens of computers and contractor support at fixed facilities inaccessible to forces deployed at remote locations. The proposed system would eliminate the need for a permanent simulation center with a system that can utilize and manage available resources to create a network capable of running simulations. This “Simulation Center in a Box” must operate within specific constraints of power availability, size, and speed in order to host a battalion simulation in the field.

The objectives of Phase 1 will be to investigate approaches that eliminate or decrease the work and equipment required to run a training simulation and to build a prototype of the software that can perform the necessary functions. StackFrame will be using the validated OneSAF System and the software will be designed to integrate well with OneSAF’s Simulation Control and Asset Management Tool (SCAMT).
