Children’s Wall Art with Flavor

Downingtown, PA, February 26, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Illustrator Jill Pearson, owner of the online children’s boutique Sophie and Spice (www.sophieandspic.com), just released a line of nursery wall art based on her digital collage style of illustration. The funky designs are hip enough for the modern nursery but still have a cute and innocent appeal.

"I've been working in the digital collage style in some form or another for over 10 years" says Pearson, who worked as a freelance editorial illustrator. After taking a break from illustration to have a baby, she decided to go in a different direction with her work. "Instead of illustrating articles about stocks and healthcare, I wanted my work to be something you could hang on the wall and enjoy,” says Pearson.

The new work, which features animals and other popular nursery themes, is available as both stretched canvas prints (from $49) and archival poster prints (from $14.95). Personalization can be added free of charge and many of the designs also offer different color options. By combining computer graphics, photographs and scanned objects, Jill creates art that is full of both color and texture.

Jill, who received her BFA in Illustration from The University of the Arts (Philadelphia, PA), has received awards and recognition from numerous illustration institutions. Her illustrations have appeared in publications around the country and she has exhibited in shows at New York's Society of Illustrators. Jill also served as a judge for one of the Society's college competitions.

"I'd love to branch out into illustrating children's books and other products for kids,” says Pearson. “I feel like after 10 years of working in this style I have finally found my true voice." Inspired by her daughter, Jill began Sophie and Spice.com in early 2007. While the website is mostly known for its mommy calling cards and pop art portraits, the site also offers birth announcements, name plaques and more.
