Detroit, MI, November 26, 2017 --(PR.com)-- The exquisite ballroom of Marriott Hotel 27033 Northwestern Hwy, Southfield, MI will serve as the venue for the first annual fundraising gala for the new Kevin A. Goggins Kidney Foundation. On the evening of Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 7PM the foundation will host the fundraiser as a kick-off for the organization.
Out of love and commitment for her husband Kevin, Elizabeth (Liz) Goggins donated her own kidney in what is known as The Paired Kidney Exchange Program at Johns Hopkins Hospital through the Incompatible Kidney Transplant program. The program in which a living willing donor is incompatible with the recipient, instead allows you exchange kidneys with another donor/recipient pair. This effort gave Liz & Kevin many more precious years together before his eventual passing in February of 2017.
However, this heroic effort was not initially on the table nor was it without financial strain. Founder, Liz Goggins states, "So many people have never heard of this option. While kidney transplants are done in nearly every state, there is often the need to travel to one of the Kidney specialty centers in the US. The average family pays out of pocket because they are not covered by traditional insurance.
"The Kevin A. Goggins Kidney Foundation (KAGKF) will give help and instill hope for patients and their families. We do not wish to see anyone not consider an option of treatment, due to lack of resources."
KAGAF will not only be a source of financial support for clients, but will also be a storehouse of information regarding the care options of renal patients (such as dialysis at home) as well as caregiver support, transportation, lodging, food and more. Ms. Goggins personal experience with this journey gives the Foundation a first-hand perspective on the unique needs of families as well as connections to numerous resources across the nation for care, support and information.
As a non-profit organization, the KAGKF will initially be funded by the generous support of sponsors and donors. In the future, the foundation will seek grants and partnerships to underwrite long term visionary projects and programs. CDJ & Associates is honored to partner with the organization to help ensure the event's success.
The KAGKF is seeking corporate sponsors, donors, partners and volunteers to support and underwrite the Kick-Off. To receive more information and to get on the mailing list please contact the Foundation via the CDJ & Associates website.
