Earth Day Shred-a-Thon to Benefit Farmington River Watershed Association

On Earth Day, April 22nd, Farmington Valley Organizing and Infoshred are co-sponsoring a “Shred-a-thon” to benefit the Farmington River Watershed Association (FRWA) at Old Avon Village Shops, 33 East Main Street/Route 44 in Avon, CT (near the giant rocking chair), between 1:00 and 6:00 p.m.

Avon, CT, February 29, 2008 --(PR.com)-- “As a business owner and someone who uses and enjoys the beautiful Farmington River, I wanted to find a way to both encourage people and businesses to do a bit of spring cleaning and support FRWA’s outstanding conservation efforts,” said Linda Pulford, Owner of Farmington Valley Organizing, a local business dedicated to helping individuals and businesses “declutter” and become more organized. Linda added, “we also appreciate the willingness of Infoshred to partner with us in sponsoring the Shred-a-thon for Earth Day.”

Event co-sponsor Infoshred is a document destruction business based in East Windsor donating the use of a “mobile shredding unit” during the Shred-a-thon to shred sensitive documents while people watch. “We recommend immediate shredding of sensitive documents versus putting these documents in with curbside paper recycling available through many area towns. During the handling and sorting of these papers through the normal recycling process, sensitive information can be at risk,” says Stacey DiPiazza, Owner of Infoshred.

“Earth Day is a time when we should all be thinking about recycling, reducing waste, and reducing our environmental footprint,” says Eric Hammerling, Executive Director of FRWA. “We are thankful to have area businesses like Farmington Valley Organizing and Infoshred who appreciate how important conserving our environment is, and we encourage people to come and ‘Shred for their Shed!’”

The Farmington River Watershed Association, founded in 1953, is a private, non-profit, conservation organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the 81-mile long Farmington River and its 609 square mile watershed that spans 33 towns in CT and MA.
