New Illustrated Children’s Book Shows How Small Lie Can Lead to Big Consequences
Dog Ear Publishing reviews a new book for children that offers a gentle lesson in what can happen when someone lies, even if it’s done with good intentions. The author also illustrated the book.
Trussville, AL, December 01, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Once someone tells a lie, it’s easy to get caught up in a cycle of further lies to support the first one. That’s what happens to the young boy who stars in “Caught in a Cycle,” a new book released by Dog Ear Publishing.
JJ is a good kid caught in a bad situation. He’s tangling with a bully, and that bully is taking it out on JJ’s best friend, Jonah. JJ tells a little lie to a school gossip, and when that news gets back to the bully, he challenges JJ to a fight. JJ pretends to be sick to get out of the fight, and things begin to cycle even further out of control as the small lie leads to other lies.
When the lies begin to catch up with JJ and he and the bully cause trouble during a class field trip, the principal and his parents come up with a creative solution to teach JJ – and the bully – a lesson. In the end, JJ realizes that lying is never worth it, no matter what it costs to tell the truth.
Sometimes even those who know right from wrong can get caught up in difficult situations. “Caught in a Cycle” tackles lying, bullying and cyber bullying in a straightforward way that is easy for children to understand. Bible verses support the book’s moral lesson, offering new ways for children to think about lying and how to make better choices.
Writer and illustrator Amy Crowe published her first children’s book, “Changed by a Catch,” in 2015. That book earned the Dog Ear Publishing Award of Literary Excellence. Crowe, who has been writing since she won her first contest at the age of 10, has a degree in marketing from Jacksonville (Ala.) State University and worked in that field. She has published articles in alumni magazines and newspapers.
Her three children – two daughters and a son – inspire her stories, which are based on real-life situations faced by children and parents.
