Rhoads Completes Phase I of Navy Yard’s Building 57 Reconstruction Project
Philadelphia, PA, December 07, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Rhoads Industries, Inc. (Rhoads), a strategic partner and total solution provider of industrial fabrication, installation, maintenance services and facilities, announced the completion of Phase I of their multimillion-dollar reconstruction project at Building 57, their headquarters at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
The Building 57 project began in late 2014 and involved the full restoration of the building’s east side exterior and office space, as well as the facility’s D- and C-Bay heavy industrial space. Work done for the C-Bay area included pouring heavy load flooring capable of handling more than 1,000 psf, installing a 200-ton overhead crane capacity and completely rebuilding the facility’s electrical system, roof, windows and exterior walls. This reconditioned space also provides numerous roll up doorways as large as 65 feet by 50 feet in size.
Located adjacent to deep water and with up to 58 feet under hook, Building 57 is ideal for large, heavy work that needs to be shipped by water or involves the Navy and its contractors and subcontractors.
Rhoads served as their own general contractor on this project, coordinating subcontractors and utilizing their own team to self-perform a good deal of required work. This allowed the company to schedule work in order to avoid operational interruptions, ensure a high level of quality and fit within the funding schedule for the project.
