Avancen Completes Development of Pain Data Query System (PDQS) to Assist Meeting 2018 Joint Commission Pain Standards

PO-PCA device and Pain Data Query System (PDQS) delivers meaningful data across facility’s operational platforms. Device data uploads into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and provides real-time pain management and drug usage information to physicians, clinicians, pharmacists, nurses, and hospital leadership for better decision making and patient outcomes.

Mount Pleasant, SC, December 08, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Avancen MOD Corporation announced the completion of its new software application as part of its Medication on Demand oral patient controlled analgesia (PO-PCA) pain management system to assist hospitals in meeting the Joint Commission Pain Standards scheduled for release January 2018. The PDQS application provides detailed data on patient pain scores and medication administration that reflects the effectiveness of the entire multimodal pain regimen during a patient’s hospital stay. This data can be easily sorted and analyzed to meet hospital requirements and Joint Commission pain standards.

Excess opioids prescribed at discharge have been attributed to opioid addiction after surgery. With the PDQS data query system for beside pain management, clinicians now have a real-time snapshot of how each patient is responding to pain therapy and physicians can safely continue the healing process by basing post-discharge prescriptions on actual patient usage patterns and needs.

“No other pain modalities or electronic health records collect data in one place to enable a rapid review of a patient’s pain management status,” said Sharon Conley, MD, PhD, CPE, MOD® Inventor, and Chief Medical Officer of Avancen. “Prescribing medication for patients leaving the hospital can now be personalized to meet each patient’s needs based on fact – not on pre-set guidelines or best guesses.”
