Voodoo Robotics Improve Quality and Productivity in Warehouse Operations
Plano, TX, December 14, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Trevor Blumenau, CEO of Voodoo Robotics, recently authored an article in Quality Digest magazine. Blumenau profiled an inexpensive wireless pick-to-light system placing warehouse productivity in reach for everyone.
Blumenau observed many companies responding to shrinking product margins from the competitive forces of Amazon and Walmart by adopting a direct-to-consumer model. These changes create enormous pressures on corporate warehouses as they transform from shipping pallet, to shipping singles or small-batches.
Mis-picks, picking the wrong item, is enormously costly to modern warehouses, particularly when shipping directly to consumers. Along with picking accuracy, pick lines per hour are useful for evaluating the productivity of the overall warehouse, and picks per hour for a particular employee can also be useful in directly incentivizing and rewarding employees.
A pick-to-light (PTL) system, such as the one offered by Voodoo Robotics, has an effect on all of these: PTL systems basically involve having a light or text display beneath each item’s location in the warehouse. Having displays light up allows a picker to find inventory faster and improves the number of lines picked per hour. PTL devices also reduce the error rate because they show which items should be picked. The picker need not slow down (as much) to check the work, and so the overall time per order is reduced.

Voodoo Robotics, the leaders in IIoT Pick-to-Light Solutions, will be exhibiting at MODEX 2018 April 9-12, 2018 in Atlanta, GA at booth B4375.
About Voodoo Robotics:
Voodoo Robotics, (https://voodoorobotics.com) the leading innovator in picking warehouse automation, provides cost-effective technology for warehouse inventory management and order fulfillment solutions. With engineering and robotic expertise, the Texas-based pioneer brings the next wave of state-of-the-art automation to material handling industries.
Voodoo offers a unique lease-based Pick-to-Light system designed to modernize warehouse operations by leveraging the latest IIoT (Industrial Internet-of-Things) technology. The picking hardware integrates effortlessly with existing WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), or ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems allowing distribution centers, warehouses, and 3PLs (third party logistics) to scale operations, only paying for the lights needed each month. This revolutionary approach to leasing Pick-to-Light devices on a month-to-month, pay-as-you-go basis avoids long-term commitments and costly up-front fees.
A companion product, SKU-Keeper Inventory Management, is designed for warehouses that do not have an existing WMS or ERP system. Emphasizing simplicity and easy-of-use, the cloud software is also leased on a low-cost, low-risk month-to-month basis.
The company also provides smart, ROI (return-on-investment) driven Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) with an innovative 3D user interface, compatible with Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Safari. The robotic systems are designed, simulated and run, all using a Warehouse Descriptive Language (WDL), a concept invented by the company.
All of Voodoo Robotics products are patented or patent-pending. Currently the company is attracting best-practice, lean manufacturing focused, systems integrators throughout North America.
The company is a proud member of MHI. Follow Voodoo Robotics on Twitter at @VoodooRobotics.
