NY Jets Hosted a Holiday Shopping Spree for Brooklyn Community Services Generation Jets Academy Students at Modell's in NJ
New York Jets football players Jeremy Clark, Dakota Dozier, Jalin Marshall, Brandon Shell, Eric Tomlinson and Brent Qvale personally shopped with the thrilled kids from Brooklyn Community Services Generation Jets Academy. The children were winners of the education and sports Play 60 Challenge. NYPD officers from Brooklyn’s 75th Precinct helped the students at the shopping spree.
Brooklyn, NY, January 04, 2018 --(PR.com)-- New York Jets hosted a holiday shopping spree for 25 elementary students from Brooklyn Community Services Generation Jets Academy on December 12, 2017 at Modell’s Sporting Goods in Bridgewater, New Jersey and were joined by NYPD officers from Brooklyn’s 75th Precinct. The students received the opportunity to participate in the shopping spree for their performance in the Jets Play 60 Challenge.
New York Jets players Jeremy Clark, Dakota Dozier, Jalin Marshall, Brandon Shell, Eric Tomlinson and Brent Qvale delighted each of the students with a $220 gift card, provided by the New York Jets and Modell’s Sporting Goods. The NY Jets became personal shoppers for the students and advised them on items ranging from sports clothing to athletic goods. NYPD officers from Brooklyn’s 75th Precinct assisted the Jets and students in shopping. The police officers had traveled with the students, parents and BCS staffers to New Jersey and helped in packing the gifts on the bus for the trip back to Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Community Services Generation Jets Academy, part of the Gary Klinsky Children’s Centers (GKCC) Afterschool Program at PS 306 in East New York, has been a special initiative partnership between BCS and the New
York Jets since 2002. Its Play 60 Initiative promotes 60 minutes of activity every day for a four-week period.
“As part of the Play 60 Challenge, students were challenged to spend 60 minutes a day being physically active by walking, doing homework and other activities,” explained Barbara Alston, Program Director for the BCS Generation JetsAcademy Afterschool Program. “In addition to being a Play 60 participant, the students showed good sportsmanship, and are making good strides to improve academically as well. The program offers the students an opportunity to work towards staying active and developing healthy living habits and get rewarded for their efforts.”
