Shannon Edwards Elected to the Board of the American Retirement Association

Oklahoma City, OK, January 17, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Shannon Edwards, ERPA, QPA, QKA and President of TriStar Pension Consulting was elected as one of the newest members of the American Retirement Association's (ARA) Board of Directors.

Mrs. Edwards was elected as an "At-Large Member" during the annual ARA business meeting in Washington D.C. The American Retirement Association, was founded in 1966 as the American Society of Pension Actuaries. Today it is comprised of four premier retirement industry associations including the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA), the ASPPA College of Pension Actuaries (ACOPA), the National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA) and the National Tax-deferred Savings Association (NTSA). The ARA currently has over 20,000 members in their combined associations who serve in all aspects of the retirement plan industry, from business owners, actuaries, administrators and consultants to financial advisors, accountants, human resource managers and attorneys. The association serves to provide education to all retirement plan and benefits professionals, while also helping to shape policies and legislation to serve working Americans and their retirement needs.

Shannon has been working in the retirement plan industry for over 25 years. She earned her Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) designation through ASPPA in 1996. She has continued her education through ASPPA and has earned her Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) designation as well as becoming an Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA). She has served on several committees as a volunteer for ASPPA including co-chairing the Women’s Business Leaders Forum.
