Rebuilding Together Atlanta Appoints New Chair, Members to 2018 Board of Directors
Non-Profit Rehabs Low-income Homes in Metro Atlanta to Expand Affordable Housing Efforts
Atlanta, GA, January 21, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Rebuilding Together Atlanta (RTA), a non-profit organization striving to preserve and revitalize low-income homes in metro Atlanta, today announces the appointment of Jason Fernandez to Chair of the Board and the addition of six new board members. RTA, organized locally in 1992, is part of the national Rebuilding Together network, a leading non-profit in safe and healthy housing that provides low-income homeowners with critical home repairs. Jason Fernandez has served on RTA’s board for six years and is co-owner and partner of Restore All, Inc. and Tuckercraft, Inc., two successful disaster restoration and multifamily construction businesses in metro Atlanta. Fernandez succeeds board chair Louis Barbieri III, who served in this capacity since 2015.
Camille Kesler, executive director of RTA, says, “On behalf of RTA’s Board of Directors, I would like to welcome Jason Fernandez as our new Chair. Jason is a long-time board member, joining us in 2012 to assist in the growth and development of RTA. Jason brings a demonstrated knowledge of and expertise in the general contracting and housing industries. Coupled with his existing tenure at RTA, he is the perfect person to lead our organization’s next chapter.”
As Board Chair, Fernandez will engage in the development of a new strategic plan to further define RTA’s mission and goals. He will focus on ensuring that RTA’s clients are well-served, grow corporate sponsorships and help board members achieve their goals within the organization. Fernandez earned a bachelor of science in landscape architecture from The Ohio State University.
“Working with RTA has been a very rewarding experience, one that combines my personal and professional interests in both construction renovation and helping people who otherwise have nowhere else to turn for critical housing repairs. I look forward to serving as Chair and driving continued growth and development within the organization,” says Fernandez.
The six board additions bring leadership experience in advocacy to real estate to finance and include Tsedey Betru, Community Affairs and Strategic Initiatives Manager of Invest Atlanta; John Corcoran, Vice President of Housing Development Corporation; Stephanie Harvey Galer, Executive Director of The Giving Kitchen; Terri M. Lee, Deputy Commissioner, City of Atlanta Department of Planning & Community Development; Chris Leutzinger, First Vice President of SunTrust Community Capital, LLC; and Greg Ward, CIO of Atlantic Pacific Real Estate Group. “RTA is honored to have such a dynamic and focused group of leaders, each dedicated to rebuilding the homes and lives of Atlanta’s underserved elderly, military veterans and multi-generational families. Every Atlantan deserves to live in a safe and healthy home and I am confident our board will help us achieve this worthwhile mission,” concludes Kesler.
RTA strives toward one day ending substandard housing in Atlanta. With the combined efforts of community-minded supporters, including volunteers and corporate sponsors, RTA facilitates necessary home repairs, such as home modifications, roofing, plumbing, painting, wall and floor repairs and more. RTA works to assure that low-income homeowners, particularly older adults, military veterans, people with disabilities and families with children, live in warmth, safety and independence. Since its inception, RTA has worked on more than 900 home projects, with a market value totaling more than $3 million. RTA leverages each dollar four times through donated materials and labor, providing significant renovations at no cost to the homeowner.
RTA invites its fellow Atlantans to join them as they make a sustainable community impact by revitalizing low-income homes. To learn more, get involved or contribute financially, please visit http://www.rebuildingtogether-atlanta.org or call 404-505-5599.
