Encodex Talks Green on the Energy Saving Day (E-Day)

London, United Kingdom, February 29, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Consumers were being urged to switch off unused gadgets and household appliances as part of Energy Saving Day (E-Day), the first national day to assess energy saving methods.

Between 18:00 GMT on Wednesday February 27th and 18:10 GMT twenty four hours later, Britons were being asked to switch off TVs, unplug phone chargers and turn off lights when not in use.

It is fast becoming the responsibility of the manufacturers and the retailers to highlight and promote greener products.

There is evidence that consumers still want a high specification product with higher load capacities and spin speeds. As an example of this in the twelve months to April, sales of washers with capacities in excess of 5kgs rose by 6%. Even the months since January, the trend continued at 3.5%.

At the same time, more and more customers are asking for energy efficient products. The products are being compared on Energy efficiency, Wash efficiency or even Energy and Water consumption. Out of the top models being sold in the market today, 20% of the highest selling models have an energy efficiency of A+ or A.

Encodex is committed to the “Save Energy” cause and is working with manufactures to be able to provide energy specifications. Using these attributes, it becomes easier to differentiate the greener appliances.

The Encodex business manager, Brian Flower, said “E-Day was a great opportunity to encourage Britons to make the best use of energy in their homes at all times and to assess the impact of plugging-in and powering up electronic products.

“We are increasingly dependent on technology and this is coming at a high cost to ourselves and the planet. Increasing demands on technology has led Encodex to evolve our attribute lists to reflect the industry energy standards. It is a continuance of Encodex’s commitment to its customers to provide the best product information system, to thus help save household-energy use not for just one day but every day.”
