Dr. Shirley Schaye is a self-employed Psychotherapist in private practice since 1976. She is responsible for providing psychotherapy and psychoanalysis of adults, adolescents and children. Dr. Schaye works with schools around many different issues such as: bullying, learning disabilities and ADD/ADHD and also works with adults in this area as well. She also serves as a Child/Couple/Family Divorce Mediator and a Business Consultant. In addition, Dr. Schaye is a Clinical Instructor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine since 1990.
Dr. Schaye was awarded a two year Canadian Mental Health Fellowship from McGill University in 1962 and the Robert M. Lindner and John C. Gustin Scholarship from the N.P.A.P. in 1975. She published “Psychoanalysis Today: A Case Book” in 1991 and an article in Psychoanalytic Quarterly titled “Psychoanalytic Supervision of the Difficult Patient,” with Lou Lauro et al, in 2003. Dr. Schaye is a Board Member at McGill University and a Fellow with the International Psychoanalytic Association. She is a member of the Contemporary Freudian Society and the American Psychoanalytic Association.
After obtaining a M.S.W. from McGill University in 1964, Shirley obtained a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Union Institute and University in 1977. She obtained Certificates in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis from the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis and the Contemporary Freudian Society in 1994. Dr. Schaye speaks English and Yiddish.
