Los Angeles, CA, January 27, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Call It Pictures and Distribber/ GoDigital are proud to announce that Counterfeiters, written, produced, and directed by Bryce Hirschberg, produced and lensed by David Klassen, and starring Hirschberg, Rob McEveety, Shawn Rolph, and Taylor Lockwood, is now available on iTunes for pre-order.
Filmmaker Bryce Hirschberg makes an auspicious directorial debut with this crime thriller centered around recent college graduate, Bridger (Hirschberg), and his desperate attempt to save his dying mother with the help of his friends, and his do-it-yourself method of counterfeiting money. Winner of 15 awards in over 20 international film festivals including Best Picture and Best Actor, Counterfeiters takes you on a journey through Bridger, and his friends', final night of counterfeiting money before all hell breaks lose.
Jeff York of the, Chicago Independent Film Critics Circle, said, "Hirschberg is the writer/star/director of this indie feature and he clearly demonstrates what a triple threat he is. (Watch out, Woody Allen and Warren Beatty!) He also must be quite the bookkeeper too because the film doesn’t look like one that cost a mere $8000. It looks sharp, polished and professional at all production levels."
This film was finished in June 2017. It began filming in October 2016, but only took 15 days to shoot. Hirschberg recounts, “This film was based on the short film by the same name made in 2012 when I was a student at Loyola Marymount University,” (the short film won the film school's top prize as well as made it's world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.) “The feature film was shot sporadically because I filmed mostly as night and it was hard to get everyone to commit to consecutive days. Pretty much everyone worked for free. I financed this film with my own money. I figured the catch 22 of this business is no one would give me a feature directing job until I made a feature film, but no one would pay for me to make a feature film unless I've already done one.”
Although offered various US distribution deals, Hirschberg opted to self-distribute the film in collaboration with the aggregator, Distribber.
Counterfeiters, the winner of the Top Prize at the Wolves International Independent Film Awards, had its Theatrical Premiere this past November at the Regal Cinema’s at LA LIVE. You can pre-order the movie on iTunes below:
