With Ellis and Navarro Hearings Over, Cope Urges High Speed Rail Opponents to Continue Fight

Ken Cope continues to urge Texans to oppose the Texas High Speed Rail project and submit written comments to the Federal Railroad Administration by the new deadline, March 9.

Arlington, TX, February 02, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Following two nights of hearings on the Texas High Speed Rail Bullet Train project, Ken Cope, Republican candidate for Congress in the Sixth District, today urged opponents to keep up the fight.

Cope, who has rallied opponents throughout his campaign, spoke at each Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) hearing, Monday night in Navarro County and Tuesday night in Ellis County.

“The hearings were great,” Cope said. “Both nights were filled with citizens who fear how this train may change their lives forever. Families who have been on their farms and ranches for generations. These people are the heart of Texas.”

While he was impressed by the turnouts both nights, Cope said the fight to defeat the Bullet Train project isn’t nearly over. As he has told several citizen meetings throughout both counties in recent weeks, he emphasized that the important date now is March 9, the deadline for submitting online comments to the FRA.

“Everyone opposed to this needs to flood the FRA website with their questions and comments in the next three weeks. The FRA needs to know the depth and breadth of the opposition here in the counties most affected by this ill-conceived project,” Cope said.

Cope is planning additional informative workshops before March 9 to guide opponents in making the most effective comments.

Cope is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and retired aerospace executive who is seeking the Congressional seat being vacated by Joe Barton.
