Lubrizol to Address Lubricant Challenges of GDI Engines at F+L Week 2018 in Macao
Turbocharged gasoline direct injection (TGDI) engines and their non-turbocharged counterparts (GDI) are an increasing popular solution for Chinese manufacturers wanting compact, powerful and economical power units for their cars. TGDI engines accounted for an estimated 25% of vehicles sold globally this year, and with increasing stringent fuel economy legislation it is likely they will control the majority of Chinese car production within the next few years.
Wanchai, Hong Kong S.A.R., February 06, 2018 --(PR.com)-- F+L Week is excited to announce that Keith Howard, Regional Manager Asia-Pacific, Original Equipment Manufacturers Group, from Lubrizol Management (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. will be presenting at F+L Week 2018. F+L Week is the leading fuels, lubricants, additives and base oils conference in Asia-Pacific and the convergence of the Annual Fuels & Lubes Asia Conference and the Asia-Pacific Base Oil Conference. The conference delivers a high level of commercial technical content on fuels, lubes, base oils and additives. Howard will provide a technical presentation on the pertinent issue “The Evolving Fuel and Lubricant Challenges of GDI Engines in China” at the Four Seasons Hotel Macao, on March 9, 2018.

Howard’s presentation will outline a range of unique challenges TGDI and GDI engines pose for fuels and lubricant formulation including - low speed pre-ignition (LSPI), aggressive wear of engine components, increased emissions due to injector deposits, faster oil oxidation, and higher levels of fuel dilution leading to loss of viscosity and oil degradation. The Lubrizol representative will detail the nature of these challenges and describe the optimum approach to formulating engine lubricants to provide superior protection, enhanced efficiency and maintain low emission levels.
Howard is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and up until his move to China was regional Chairman of the IMechE Automobile Division. As OEM Regional Manager for Asia-Pacific, Howard is responsible for coordinating Lubrizol’s OEM related activities across the region.
