One such entrepreneur who has carved a niche for herself in a rather male-dominated industry is Sakshi Talwar, Co-Founder of Rugs and Beyond which is an E-commerce platform for selling "One of a Kind" handmade Rugs and Carpets to customers worldwide while empowering local weavers and craftsmen. Prior to starting her magic carpet ride, Sakshi worked in the Finance industry in New York right after her MBA from Boston and that's when she realized she wasn't really cut out for a 9-5 job and wanted to start her own venture. Her inclination towards design led her to pursue a course in Interior design from Parsons, New York. Sakshi says, "Studying at one of the best design schools in the world, was a learning curve in my life. I got to learn from the best of faculty while gaining immense practical knowledge at the same time."

Weaving a handmade rug depends on a variety of factors like color, size, material, type, design, etc. It can take upto several months to weave a single handmade rug. Rugs and Beyond provides a platform to these local weavers and craftsmen while empowering them at the same time.
