Jamie Skylar Delivers Ethereal Message from John Lennon in "I Know You Know the Walrus Too"
Second single from the new album Marmalade drops Wednesday, February, 21st.
Los Angeles, CA, February 20, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The second single, "I Know You Know the Walrus Too," from the new album by international performer, recording artist and Producer Jamie “Sky” Skylar will be released on Wednesday, February 21st, according to a spokesperson for Prophet Records.
Following the first single, "It Makes Me Crazy," that dropped January 25th, which has had an overwhelming response, "I Know You Know the Walrus Too" is the second of four singles slated to drop prior to the release of the album titled Marmalade on April 27th - available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Pandora, YouTube and other music sites worldwide. The third single and title song of the album Marmalade will drop March 20th. Pre-sales for the album begin March 23rd.
“You know, I’ve been writing songs since I was 12 years old,” Skylar said, “and there are songs, all kinds of songs, and then there are those once-in-a-lifetime songs that change you forever -- I Know You Know the Walrus Too is one of those songs.”
“While 'I Know You Know the Walrus Too' tells the story of how John Lennon came to me in a dream and basically provided the scenario and lyrics for the third verse,” Skylar said, “knowing how it all came about and everything that happened in that dream - what I was shown and what I was told, and the message of hope and love that John delivered, only makes the song and the experience that much more meaningful and profound, even life changing, at least it has been for me.
"For one thing, it most assuredly confirms that there is at least consciousness, if not life, after death, and that others from beyond still have a great hand in what is going on down here. And that’s a really awesome and comforting thought -- that we are not in this alone, especially at a time when it seems too many of us have lost the thread. Not to mention the fact that John Lennon is still out there somewhere writing and helping write powerful songs that help promote love and peace in the world – and how awesome is that! Frankly, it’s been one of the most humbling and enlightening experiences in my entire life," Skylar said. (The entire story will be included in the iBook for the album Marmalade, available April 27th on iTunes.)
“The irony,” Skylar said, “is that I had met all of the Beatles in 1975 except John, but later became friends with both of his sons, Sean and Julian, both of whom have a very special place in my heart. In fact, it was a very beautiful, intelligent and precocious 9 year old Sean who gave me the nickname Marmalade soon after we met. After that the fun was on as Sean and my son Scott, age 10 at the time, also hit it off, and we all had a chance to spend some time together - hanging out, horseback riding in the Hollywood Hills, and later skiing together in Snowmass, Colorado. A few years later, I also met and had a chance to spend some time with Julian, and soon afterwards, at his request, joined him on the road for his first U.S. tour - first, for his opening in Miami, and then, for the last concert of the tour in Los Angeles."
Also contributing to the magic at the Hyde Street Studios (San Francisco) and LAFX (Los Angeles) were multi Grammy® Award-winning Engineer Mark Needham (The Killers, Paul Simon, Fleetwood Mac, Chris Isaak); Drums and Percussion, Ernest “Boom” Carter (Bruce Springsteen-Born to Run); Bass, Bobby Vega (Etta James, Zero); Lead and Rhythm Guitar, William (Bill) “Sputnik” Spooner (The Tubes, From Mall to Mars); Guitar and Steel Guitar, Jeff Watson (Night Ranger); Keyboards and Strings, Co-Producer George Michalski (San Francisco, Yosemite, Barbra Streisand’s Greatest Hits, Vol. 2); and Keyboards and five time Grammy® Award-winning Producer John Jones (Celion Dion, Duran Duran).
A limited tour, television and other appearances are planned to support the album, subject to Skylar’s prior filming and other commitments. Skylar and Jones will team up again later this year for the soundtrack of the upcoming feature film, The Caul of Moijan, written, produced and directed by Skylar for Skylar Film Studios, LLC.
Family ties of note, also in the business, include Skylar’s son, Producer Dylan Johnson (Waterfront Property), and actors, brother Don Johnson (Miami Vice, Nash Bridges) and niece Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey).
