ISBER Welcomes Biospecimen Research Experts to Luxembourg for the First-Ever Biospecimen Research Symposium in Europe
The International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER) and the Integrated BioBank of Luxembourg (IBBL) welcome biospecimen research experts to Luxembourg for the first-ever Biospecimen Research Symposium in Europe.
Luxembourg, Luxembourg, March 01, 2018 --(PR.com)-- ISBER has partnered with IBBL to host the Biospecimen Research Symposium, a 1.5 day symposium focused on biospecimen research. Throughout the symposium, international biospecimen research experts will present and discuss recent findings and developments in the field for all major types of specimens (human fluid, human tissue, and environmental). By attending this event, delegates will have the opportunity to not only discuss a topic that no other conference in the world covers, but to meet with their international colleagues and discuss opportunities for cross-border collaboration.
Biospecimen research underpins the accuracy and robustness of all research done using biospecimens. “Scientifically-based practices and recommendations are essential to improving the quality of biobanked samples as well as the reliability and reproducibility of research outcomes,” says ISBER President, Zisis Kozlakidis.
“The Biospecimen Research Symposium is important because it substantiates biospecimen research as a scientific discipline and as the necessary foundation of evidence-based biobanking.” – Fay Betsou, Chair, Biospecimen Research Symposium Program Committee
The Biospecimen Research Symposium is supported by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (RESCOM/17/1750050).
About the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories
ISBER is the only global forum that addresses harmonization of scientific, technical, legal, and ethical issues relevant to repositories of biological and environmental specimens. ISBER fosters collaboration; creates education and training opportunities; provides a forum for the dissemination of state-of-the-art policies, processes, and research findings; and provides an international showcase for innovative technologies, products, and services. Together, these activities promote best practices that cut across the broad range of repositories that ISBER serves.
About the Integrated BioBank of Luxembourg
IBBL (Integrated BioBank of Luxembourg) is an autonomous not-for-profit institute dedicated to supporting biomedical research for the benefit of patients. IBBL is an integrated research infrastructure offering bioservices, including the collection, processing, analysis and storage of biological samples and associated data. In addition, IBBL carries out research to optimise biospecimen processing and certify biospecimen quality. IBBL’s quality management system is conceived to be compliant with NF S96-900:2011, ISO 17025:2005, ISO 17043:2010 and IBBL is ISO 9001:2008 certified. IBBL’s mission is to provide biospecimen related services and a biobanking infrastructure for applied medical research. IBBL’s vision is to be an international centre of excellence in biobanking and a valued partner in developing better healthcare solutions. IBBL is an autonomous institute, organised within the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH). For more information, please visit our corporate website or our public website.
